Mozcoffee Gwalior V 1.0

Meeting new people is a great thing that too if you are having few really awesome cup of coffee accompanying you then its just a cherry on the cake. The same thing happened when i decided to organize a Mozcoffee event with my fellow Mozillians from Mozilla community Gwalior.
It was a bright sunny day when all the community members gathered at a specified venue for the event. The event started with great enthusiasm as all the members were so excited to learn new things and plan for the community activities.

As all gathered we started the meet-up as we have few who were new to Firefox student ambassador program. The main objective of this event was to provide a platform to interact with the experienced Contributor.
I started by addressing the participants about Open source, Mozilla mission, various areas of contribution and what we are doing at Mozilla community Gwalior.

Then i opened the platform for our active contributor to speak about their personal experiences in Mozilla contribution and being part of Mozilla community Gwalior.

After the introductory session it was time for the real action when we all have to decide the community future plans and various events which were very important.
We had conversation on various areas were we have potential and can organize events to bring more engagement from Gwalior.
We selected few areas and planned events accordingly. The discussion was so interesting with lots of ideas coming from the active contributor of Mozilla Community Gwalior.

After a 1 n half hour of discussion we finalized few events and divided responsibilities to the contributor. They were so excited to be part of the events and contribute more for the betterment of the web.

Ultimately event came to an end with lots of work to do and responsibilities. The best part of the event was awesome coffee which made the event memorable... :)

Hive Pop-Up Maker Party Kharagpur

When you listen the word HIVE then three things which strike your mind are :-

LEARNING + SHARING + FUN

The same happened with me when i saw a social media post about the Hive Pop-Up Maker Party Kharagpur. I got excited to attend this event as it was my first HIVE event. I contacted the organizer Umesh agrawal and luckily got invitation for the event.

Then came the day 20th of December 2014 when started my journey early morning to the city of Kharagpur. As i reached the venue the planning for the event has been already started. I joined the discussion as most of the guys were from Mozilla community Kolkata so discussion was going on in very sweet language called "Bangla". I was very comfortable in that environment as bangla was know to me.

Then all of us moved to the train the trainer session where our Mentor Mr. Shahid Farooqui interacted with us. First of all there was a little introduction session in which all the hive attendees shared about themselves how they are involved in Mozilla. This session was really helpful as due to this session every one got to know about each other.

Then all the attendees have been told to share there ideas for the event ranging from type of stall, how to create interest amongst the participants and allotment of stalls to the participants.
All the participants then shared their ideas and their motive to be part of HIVE kgp. After the metting all group started their planning for the big day.

Then came the D day when all the participants hold their positions to their respective stalls. We tried to cover all the areas of contributions and various Mozilla projects like:-
  • Mozilla Mission
  • FSA
  • Webmaker
  1. Thimble
  2. X-ray Goggle
  3. Popcorn maker
  4. App maker
  • Firefox OS
  • Firefox browser
  • Fennec
  • Mozilla gears
As this was a HIVE event we covered other areas also for sharing knowledge like:-
  • Robotics
  • Electronics
  • T-shirt painting etc.

The participants started reaching the venue and we were all set you deliver our best in front of the future contributors. The stall coordinators started to explain things to the attendees and the attendees too had keen interest in listening them
I was the coordinator of the FSA booth. In this i have highlighted few key points of FSA program like :-
  • What is FSA program?
  • Who can be part of the FSA program?
  • How to register for FSA program?
  • What is FSA club?
  • Who is the club Lead?
  • What are the club/FSA activities?
My participants who attended the event were below 18 but they were so keen to explore more about the program and wanted to join the program as soon as they get the required age.
I was sharing my booth with one of my new friend from Mozilla community Kolkata "Sukanta pal". He was the coordinator of the Open badge booth and participants were given the opportunity to make the badge then and there only best badge has been given swags.

The booths which attracted the eyeballs the most were T-shirt design, Firefox OS and Moz Gears. In the Moz gear section participants were given the opportunity to try those gears and feel the Mozilla mission.

I was lucky enough to try few of my favorite moz gears. Their where many spacial moments which made Hive kgp one of the awesome event.

At last i would like to thank all the Mozilla community Kolkata members Shahid Farooqui, Biraj karmakar, Umesh agrawal, Swarnasen gupta, Sukanta pal, Srijib roy, Ayan ,Sumantro, Debapriya Bhattacharya, Sreemegha, Ishita, Radha, Ranodeed and Rish for inviting me to this awesome event. :)

Journey of Webmaker Super Mentor

I would like to share my experiences and journey from a newbie in Webmaker to a Webmaker Super Mentor.
Its all started with simple visit to website www.webmaker.org then i explored about it more and got to know about various components of the webmaker project by Mozilla. Them i came in contact with the active contributors who were already contributing in the project and got to know about the mission of the project to teach those who want to learn on web which is given the name as "Teach the web".
The best part of this project is that you learn while you make and there are various level of recognition you get when you acquired a certain skill-set.There are whole set of badges which you can earn and share with others.
I started making makes on webmaker and started attending webmaker events. My first recognition came as the skill sharer badge when i wrote my first blog on the KidzMaker party i have attended.

This badge was the breakthrough in my contribution after that i have never stopped my contribution and made lots of makes and remixed the existing one. Which made me eligible for the remixing maker badge in which we have to make and write blogs which highlight the various features of webmaker project and using multimedia in your makes.
Then came the day when i have hosted my first webmaker event in my college which made me eligible for the makerparty host and FSAmaker party badges.
for more about the maker party.

The most important step towards webmaker mentor and super mentor is to teach and share your skills. The more and more new contributors can get involved in the webmaker project through teaching kits which may cover various projects Mozilla like webmaker, appmaker etc. or various web literacy skills.
After making teaching kits and hosting events i applied for Webmaker Mentor badge.

The webmaker mentors are the army of those webmaker enthusiast who share, make and contribute to webmaker project to its fullest.
This made me more passionate about the Webmaker and Mozilla. I started biuilding community and reaching out people who want to contribute for the betterment of the web and want web accessible to all.

After hosting events and sharing knowledge i have applied for the This badge is issued by Mozilla to outstanding Webmaker community members. Super Mentors are like Webmaker superheroes. They work with the webmaker team and contribute to make the project a huge success.
